Comfortable, Practical, Safe, Green Are Themes This Year
Thirty-two Babson MBA students in Sebastian Fixson’s Product Design and Development (PDD) course will showcase their seven new product concepts on Tuesday, December 2nd from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Needham-Wellesley Room of Olin Hall at Babson College.
The MBA students formed seven teams to develop their product designs during the single-semester PDD course. Neighboring Olin College of Engineering provided prototyping support and engineering advice. Rhode Island School of Design adjunct professor Matt Kressy was consulted on industrial design.
This year’s new product designs include:
*CampCRANE, a modular system that provides experienced or inexperienced outdoorsmen with the tools necessary to quickly and effectively protect food and other “smellables” from wildlife.
*A ladies shoe that’s stylish, comfortable, foldable, and small enough to fit in a purse. It will provide relief to high-heeled hurting feet after a night in the city.
- A multifunctional and aesthetically pleasing workstation intended to enhance the academic and social community of the Olin Graduate School.
- A new solution to facilitate the transportation of organic waste, supporting the conversion of bio-mass into clean energy and mitigating the economic risk of future waste management state legislation.
- An artistically inspired and customizable computer data storage system for the creative professional that will protect the user's data and manage their collection of flash drives.
- A multi-functional bike attachment for quick shopping trips, engineered to promote biking for ease of use, convenience, and a more green lifestyle.
- An easy to use, multifunctional ride-on toy for children ages 2 to 4 that is modern and playful.
