Mass Engineered Design Wins Suit Against Dell and Others

A federal jury awarded Mass Engineered Design Inc. $3 million in an infringement case against several companies several months ago, including Dell Inc., CDW Corp and Tech Data Corp. relating to a patent on unique multiscreen displays. Now, a federal court has given Mass Engineered an injunction against Dell and the defendants. The judge for the US District Court (Eastern District of Texas), Leonard Davis, refused Dell's motions.

Mass Engineered Design Inc. together with inventor Jerry Moscovitch, won in a suite that alleges the defendants’ mutli-displays infringe the invetnor's U.S. patent, RE36,978 or “Dual Display System,”  issued on November 18, 1997. The original statement said "that Dell, CDW, a reseller, Tech Data, a distributor and Ergotron, a manufacturer, have allegedly infringed and allegedly continues to infringe upon the patent by manufacturing, using, selling and importing its multi-display units such as Dell's Model No. A 0454864 for example."
