Operating Profits Down 12% in Canada Led by Oil and Gas with a 34%

The sharp drop in operating profits in for Canadian businesses, reported by Statistics Canada of 12% in the January to March first quarter (over the previous first quarter reported) was led by a 34% drop in profits in the oil and gas sector.

Profits for oil and gas and mining combined dropped to C$4.3 billion, down 34% over the previous year. ,
