Swine Flu Vaccine One Step Closer as Pharmaceutical Companies Make It a Priority
Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 07:58AM The Centers for Disease Control confirmed seed strains of the swine flue has been sent to numerous vaccine makers. Although H1N1 virus vaccine is a top priority, these companies still must fast track safety tests and also prove the vaccines work. Other issues to be resolved will be dose and the question of repeated shots.
The sheer volume of vaccine required means that multiple facility companies are best equipped to deliver a viable vaccine. One of the largest flue vaccine companie,s Sanofi Pasteur is already working with the seed strain sent by the CDC and indicated it began to work at its new facility in Swiftwater, Pa.
