Alpeco system delivers oils to trailers

Alpeco has supplied a three-pump, three-meter system to deliver heavy gear oils, light oils and engine oils to lubricant-carrying trailers.

With safety and efficiency the main criteria for Total Lubricants, the company asked haulage contractor Wincanton to help them design six lubricant-carrying trailers that could offer flexibility, safety and efficiency.

Wincanton discussed the proposal with Lakeland Tankers, which has previously supplied trailers to Wincanton.

The requirement was for each trailer to carry 40,000 litres of multiple lube oils with absolute minimum contamination between products.

Wincanton specified Alpeco metering and delivery controls, so Alpeco supplied a three-pump, three-meter system to deliver the oils.

The three-pump, three-meter delivery systems use Alpeco's TE550 measuring system.

The system also incorporates a driver-operated remote controlled, pneumatic blow-down facility, which ensures that the delivery hose is always cleared of product when the delivery cycle is completed.

The remote control system allows the operator to start and stop the delivery cycle as well as activate the blow-down from approximately 30m - useful safety features in the unlikely event of an emergency situation.

Alpeco specialises in metering and pumping systems for delivery tankers including the TE550 Checkmate system control module, which is manufactured by Liquid Controls in Italy for Alpeco.

The company also offers MID-approved standard and high-speed bulk delivery systems capable of hose-reel deliveries of up to 400 LPM and bulk deliveries of 1,100 LPM.

The MID approved high-speed bulk system differs from the standard DMX bulk systems by employing a larger capacity meter chamber and pump unit but the company can tailor systems to any client requirement.

Alpeco are appointed distributors of I-meter V2, manufactured by Dublin-based company Dreamtec.

The I-meter is a tracking device that can monitor and report all meter and delivery information back to HQ in real time.

The device can be mounted onto any Alpeco Lectrocount or TE550 meter system quickly and easily.

A web-based, password-protected 'Dashboard Viewer' allows the despatch office to view the position and route for each tanker as well as download PDF copies of the meter ticket immediately after each delivery.
