New sound proofing system for Bombardier Challenger 300 now available
Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 03:25PM Tailor-made exclusively for the Bombardier Challenger 300, the Silentium Air 300 Series Kit significantly reduces cabin noise levels
MONTREAL, April 21 /CNW Telbec/ - Silentium Air, developers of advanced sound proofing systems for business aircraft, today announced the market introduction of the Silentium Air 300 Series Kit, a tailor-made sound proofing system uniquely developed based on the engineering specifications of the Bombardier Challenger 300.
Installation of the Silentium Air 300 Series Kit will generally reduce overall cabin noise levels by at least three decibels, which approximately represents an average 30% reduction in perceived noise throughout the cabin. In turn, lower noise levels reduce passenger fatigue and create a much more productive and comfortable environment for conversation, concentration and audio/video entertainment.
Unlike existing noise reduction systems which are generic to aircraft models, the Silentium Air 300 Series Kit consists of pre-fitted modules that are quick and easy to install. Made of the latest aerospace-grade fiberglass and foam, installation of the Silentium Air 300 Series Kit completely replaces factory-installed sound proofing without representing a significant weight increase. Additionally, the Silentium Air 300 Series Kit is FAA supplemental type certificate (STC) approved and thus pre-certified for installation.
Work has started on the first customer Silentium Air 300 Series Kit installation at Bombardier's Business Aircraft Service Center in Tucson, Ariz. This aircraft was first delivered in 2003 and has more than 5,000 flight hours over about 3,000 cycles. Installation of Silentium Air 300 Series Kit was integrated into scheduled overhaul work and did not otherwise require any modifications to the interior of the cabin, which was fully refurbished last year.
"This installation should prove to be beneficial for Challenger 300 operators," said Kirk Schiebelhut, Director of Customer Services, Bombardier Business Aircraft Service Centers. "Not only will this system reduce cabin noise but it will also improve safety and performance."
"We are proud to be offering the Silentium Air 300 Series Kit at EBACE," said Nicholas Houseman, President, Silentium Air. "This sound proofing system is unique because it is pre-fitted for the Challenger 300. Thus, installation minimizes costly aircraft maintenance downtime. Going forward, we will introduce similar tailor-made sound proofing systems for the Bombardier Global Express and Challenger 600/601/604 series. Delivery of these systems will be well aligned with upcoming major inspection milestones for these models," Mr. Houseman concluded.
