Less than a week after signing a seven-year deal to provide service and repair parts for Air Transat's new fleet of Airbus A320 wide body aircraft, Aveos has won a five-year contract to service the same aircraft for Interjet of Mexico. The work will be done at the company's new Montreal facility. The work will scale up as Interjet adds to its fleet, increasing from 24 to 40 aircraft by November, 2012.
The contract with Air Transat will require an Aveos on-site representative to be based at the Air Transat facility in Dorval to co-ordinate requests from Air Transat. Air Transat is the airline of Canada's largest wholesale travel operator, Transat A.T. Inc., carries about 3 million passengers annually to 60 destinations.
Aveos, the Montreal aircraft repair and maintenance company, was formerly known as Air Canada Technical Services until Air Canada sold the division in 2007. It continues to derive 85 per cent of its revenues from airframe maintenance for Air Canada. The company has about 4,900 employees in Canada and El Salvador.
