New oil exploration company to focus on Alberta

A new oil exploration company, Velvet Energy Ltd., will focus its efforts on oil and natural gas opportunities in western and central Alberta, an area known as the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Investors in the company include private equity investors Warburg Pincus, Trilantic Capital Partners, and ZAM Ventures, L.P., as well as members of the company and Board. The company is headed by Ken Woolner, a geological engineer and entrepreneur.
